The We Are Human Campaign
The approach that PACH takes to the challenge of improving relations across difference focuses on underscoring similarities through a We Are Human (WAH) campaign. The WAH campaign is a collection of video self-portraits of people answering six questions that underscore our common humanity:
1) What is the best thing that ever happened to you and why?
2) What do you fear the most and why?
3) Whom do you trust the most and why?
4) What do you most desire in life and why?
5) What is a favorite childhood memory and why?
6) If you really knew me, you would know…
Each of these five questions have been found to evoke responses that reveal remarkable similarities across diverse communities and help to challenge biases, stereotypes, and the “single story” that lies at the root of the conflict across communities. Our WAH campaign has been conducted across numerous countries, as well as within police departments and communities across California (i.e., Oakland, Richmond, Stockton, and Los Angeles).
