Lisa Arrastia

Lisa Arrastia is the founder of The Ed Factory, an organization using the art of social engagement to transform the educational process and challenge notions of difference. Lisa teaches in the Writing and Critical Inquiry program at University of Albany, State University of New York. She is the founder and former director of a small high school in Chicago, and has worked as a principal and teacher in independent, international, and public schools. Lisa is the co-editor with Marvin Hoffman of Starting Up: Critical Lessons from 10 New Schools (Teachers College Press in 2012), and she is the founder of the Young People’s Archive, a visual and audioethnography archive documenting young people’s experiences locally, nationally, and globally as they wrestle with notions of self, other, difference, and the crisis of connection.
