Shabnam Javdani

Shabnam Javdani is assistant professor of Applied Psychology. Her research examines the development of, and social response to, violence, trauma, and legal system involvement with a focus on youth. Her current projects focus on the design, implementation, and experimental evaluation of social justice advocacy and youth-driven leadership initiatives for legal system-involved girls and gender non conforming youth; the development of court-based trauma-informed systems change efforts to reduce disparities for girls and youth of color; and investigations of setting level characteristics and processes in detention and placement facilities across New York State. Her work is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Justice, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the Ford Foundation.
