Judith Bruce

Judith Bruce is a senior associate and policy analyst with the Population Council’s Poverty, Gender, and Youth program. Bruce, who has worked with girls and young women in over 30 countries in the developing world since 1969, coordinates a program of policy-oriented research on issues related to women’s and adolescent girls’ social and economic development. Recently, she served as co-chair of the United Nations Expert Group Meeting on the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against girls. Her areas of expertise include women’s roles and status, with a focus on intra-family dynamics, investments in children, and adolescence, especially vulnerable adolescent girls.
