Dana Edell

Dana Edell, M.F.A., Ph.D., is an artist/activist/scholar, and Co-Director of SPARK Movement, an organization committed to antiracist gender justice, activist work with girls. She also teaches theater, social change, and qualitative methods at New York University, the New School and CUNY. Dr. Edell was the Co-Founder/Executive Director of viBe Theater Experience where she co-directed 70+ theater productions, written and preformed by teenage girls. Dana also co-founded/directed Inside/Out Performing Arts, a playmaking company with girls affected by the juvenile justice system (San Francisco). She has published, spoken out and advocated for girls as part of several books, academic journals, and throughout the media. She recently joined the team at Project Maverick, a new global girls' online & on-the-ground initiative for girls.
