Renée Spencer, Ed.D., is an Associate Professor at the Boston University School of Social Work and Chair of the Human Behavior in the Social Environment department. Her research focuses on the development of youth mentoring relationships, specifically relational processes in more and less successful relationships. This work has been funded by the W.T. Grant Foundation and the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). Dr. Spencer has published widely on youth mentoring and serves as a member of several boards and committees, including MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership Research and Policy Council and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Research Advisory Council. She also serves as editor of the "Research from Related Fields" column for The Chronicle of Evidence-Based Mentoring, an on-line source of new findings and ideas about youth mentoring.
